GEWI Traffic Technology Tour Visits Eastern United States

In September 2015, GEWI visited several public agencies for a public/private sector information exchange about traffic technologies. The technology tours are scheduled to offer public agencies an opportunity to benefit from the global experience in traffic technology GEWI has acquired since being founded in 1992. The tours are also an important part of GEWI’s product development process as agencies are able to provide comment on the latest new features of the TIC software and describe problems for which they may require a solution.

The 2015 tour visited several public agencies in the Eastern United States with discussions covering a variety of topics including the European eCall system which is designed to provide a rapid response for motorists involved in a collision anywhere in the EU.

Another popular topic was the VMS2DASH technology demonstration which GEWI and BMW held at the 2014 ITS World Congress in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

VMS2DASH has attracted a great deal of interest from public agencies as a solution to deliver data directly into connected vehicles. The TTT also addressed connected work zones, road incident management, data quality and using social media data along with other topics of interest to each public agency.
