Greetings!

At GEWI, spring always means two things, new TIC Software features in the spring release and the start of a busy conference schedule.  In this issue, read about benefits provided by the new TIC Document feature and see where you can meet up with GEWI representatives at ITS Conferences in April, May and June to receive more information or a TIC demonstration.

You can also learn how TIC CONNECTS DOT's and Broadcasters, view a video or leaflet about the Road Incident Management feature and meet Enrico Kalle who is entering his 18th year with GEWI.  Speaking of Milestones, we look back more than 20 years to TMC Office which as the first version of what today is TIC3.

Create Traffic Control Permits and more with TIC Document Feature
With the new "TIC Document" feature, GEWI's TIC Software can now be used by organizations to create a wide range of documents directly from the TIC Software.

The TIC Document feature uses templates which have been designed to be easy to create and modify to export any data in the TIC system as a document or report.

The TIC Document feature is already being used to issue permits for traffic control at or near work zones. By incorporating the permit process into the same TIC system that manages the work zone and traffic and travel information, public agencies can better control all information about the work zone, including providing the public with accurate reports about how the work zone will affect traffic.

The TIC Document feature can also be used to create management reports to track operator performance, or reports based on specific incidents, roadways, or any other data managed by the TIC system. This includes status of ITS Devices or an overview of all monitored systems.

For more information about this feature, visit www.gewi.com to contact a GEWI representative in your region.

GEWI Hosts Work Zone User Group
Part of the continual evolution of the TIC product is an constant information exchange between GEWI and the customer to collect new project requirements, and to receive feedback on new features of the TIC system. In February 2016, GEWI hosted a Work Zone user group at the GEWI offices in Bernburg, Germany allowing users to share their general experience of using TIC and learn the latest Work Zone features.

Two of the latest major enhancements include a new graphical interface for entering lane information for work zone lane closures, reassignment or restrictions, and the ability to issue Work Zone permits directly from the TIC system.

During the workshop, new TIC features were demonstrated and information was exchanged about how TIC is used by other road agencies and ideas were discussed about how TIC could be improved for current and future TIC system operations.

With the latest enhancements to TIC for Work Zone, the feature is now able to provide work zone information for drivers by creating traffic and travel events (TTE), for work zone planning, and now for creating work zone permits.

The next Work Zone user group workshop is planned for November 2016. For more information on TIC for Work Zones, contact matthias.defee@gewi.com.

TIC Traffic News Service Connects DOT's and Broadcasters
GEWI's TIC Software has been used by broadcasters to create and read for Traffic News since 1997.

A new cloud service has recently been introduced by GEWI which makes it easier than ever for broadcasters to air up-to-the minute traffic reports. Now fully scripted traffic reports can be automatically created and delivered using the TIC Newsreader, in English, German, or any language supported by TIC.

Public agencies also benefit by being able to immediately provide traffic information to local radio stations in a ready-for-broadcast format. The reports can even be color coded with RED indicating an urgent message which should be broadcast immediately, and YELLOW to indicate it should be aired at the next possible opportunity. The same TIC system is also compatible with AMBER Alerts in the U.S.

Traffic information is collected from public data sources by the TIC Software and is processed automatically based on the specific requirements of the broadcaster, then delivered as a formatted script through the TIC Newsreader.

Traffic anchors then only need to open a browser and read their customized traffic report from the TIC Newsreader. The report can also be provided in XML, RSS and Google KML which allows the same report to be read on smart phones, apps and websites.

Anchors are also able to show/hide individual stories in the automatically scripted traffic report, allowing them to edit their report for time or other considerations

Stations who require the capability to edit or otherwise manipulate the traffic information can do so using a TIC System and the TIC for Traffic News feature.

From TMC Office to TIC3

2017 will be GEWI's 25th year in business, so in preparation we've been digging through old photos and files and it is amazing to see how far the TIC3 Software has evolved since development was started in 1995 for what initially was known as TMC Office.

From the original project requirements of creating and processing traffic data, TIC has evolved due to customer requests to be used for so many more types of projects than we could have envisioned more than 20 years ago. TIC 3 Ballgame Logo

Probably the most significant recent change to the TIC Software was the adding of the "Project" feature used for Road Incident Management (RIM).

Project is a powerful tool to manage any event on the roadway or ITS infrastructure with customizable step-by-step processes from detection to resolution and post incident analysis. You can watch the video link in this newsletter for more information about RIM.

We have also created a timeline of GEWI's milestones in the History page at the GEWI website.  The milestones are an interesting reminder of where we've been, how traffic technologies have evolved since 1992, and serve as motivation to continue to improve GEWI features and market solutions for the benefit of our customers worldwide.

GEWI adds ITS Australia Membership
As GEWI's global market is expanding, so is the list of global trade memberships. GEWI has recently become a member of ITS Australia.  Danny Woolard, GEWI's Director of Business Development commented "We felt that this was important, not only as this year's host of the World Congress but to gain support to assist us in growing this region's business opportunities. It also serves as a great vehicle to promote GEWI products and services to the Australian market".

The ever expanding features of GEWI's TIC Software make it even more attractive and relevant to DOT's, road agencies and operators worldwide. New features such as Road Incident Management (RIM), the new ability to create Work Zone permits, and the Traffic News Service expand GEWI's potential for developing new global regions.  The importance of marketing support and events such as the forthcoming ITS World Congress in Melbourne in October show GEWI's commitment to being an integral part of the ITS community.

TIC for Road Incident Management Video and Leaflet

TIC for Road Incident Management represents a significant advancement for the management of road incidents and issues with road and ITS infrastructure.  A video and leaflet are now available at www.gewi.com that describe the market solution.

To schedule a demonstration, or for more information contact a GEWI representative in your region.

Product Videos on GEWI Website

GEWI's web site includes videos for many of the TIC product features. These videos make it easy for website visitors to self-demonstrate the TIC system and to view how specific product features can be used for a variety of public and private sector markets.

More videos are being produced to provide an introduction to other TIC product features, so check www.gewi.com occasionally to view the new videos.
