It was great to see so many friends and GEWI customers from all corners of the world at our booth in New York for ITS World Congress 2008.
In addition to a “sneak preview” of the new TIC3 architecture, attendees also saw the new GEWI booth layout at the show.
Case Study: Rapid Deployment
New Zealand based GeoSmart was looking for a Real Time Traffic Information solution to meet their requirements to deliver TMC for the car Navigation market and to upgrade the NZ Automobile Association’s Roadwatch and IVR services.
GeoSmart first met GEWI in October 2007 at ITS in China. An agreement between GeoSmart and GEWI was signed in December 2007 and the system installed and operational by August 2008 including the automated creation and certification of the location tables for all of NZ in May 2008. The service is currently driving the www.aamaps.co.nz and www.AAroadwatch.co.nz web sites, TMC broadcasts are due to start in December 2008 and SMS subscription services are due in February 2009.
TIC for Work Zones & Road Conditions
TIC can be used to provide a consistent set of information about work zones and road conditions to travelers using websites, travel information services, navigation devices, and more.
Travelers can easily understand clear travel information in a consistent style for entire cities, states, and nations. Radio and TV stations can automatically receive custom formatted reports to announce local work zone times and lane closures, road condition such as ice and flooding, and visibility such as snow and fog.
Operators can use TIC’s intuitive user interface to quickly create, update, and approve data. Operators can also be automatically alerted when monitored road conditions change, for example based on weather data received from road-side weather stations and weather information services.
TIC is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution proven in over 100 projects operating worldwide, and can be deployed faster, more affordably, and with less risk than build-your-own solutions.

GEWI has released a new product brochure which describe the TIC3 architecture.
New leaflets are also available to show how TIC3 may be used for:
DOT Traveler Information Services, Work Zone & Road Conditions, Traffic Plans & Simulation, Traffic Data Capture on PDA’s, RDS-TMC and TPEG Broadcast Services, Radio & TV Traffic Reports and Radio Program Associated Data (RDS, DAB).
