The new generation of roadside VMS (Variable Message Signs) can display graphical color images to vehicle drivers. TIC automatically creates graphical images which can contain a simplified road map, text, and icons based on up-to-date traffic information on the roads ahead.

Hundreds of delegates from more than 25 countries around the world visited GEWI’s exhibit stand to view the latest enhancements to TIC3 including distribution of traffic data to the newest generation of variable message signs (VMS). GEWI will also demonstrate TIC for the iPad which provides a very user friendly solution for mobile traffic entry.

On September 4th, 1992 in Stassfurt Germany, Hagen Geppert and Dr. Karl Will formed GEWI to create hardware and software to show traffic information on TV sets. Sony and Grundig were GEWI’s early clients along with the Automobile Association (AA) in the UK for which GEWI created TMC Office, the predecessor of what today is TIC.
