GEWI Partners with Waze Connected Citizens Program to Enable “off-the-shelf” Waze Data Integration

Waze logoGEWI today announced a new global partnership with Waze the free, real-time crowdsourced traffic and navigation app powered by the world’s largest community of drivers, to provide public agencies worldwide with an “off-the-shelf” solution for collecting, harmonizing, and integrating Waze data with existing public agency data using GEWI’s TIC software.

“As a global company, this partnership is an excellent fit between GEWI and Waze”, commented GEWI founder and global CEO Hagen Geppert. “GEWI customers worldwide can now have access to Waze data directly within the TIC Software platform, enabling Waze data to be immediately related with other agency data already in their system, and the improved data can also be shared back to Waze.

“We expect his two-way data exchange between GEWI customers and Waze to be a powerful tool to help increase data accuracy”, said Geppert.

This partnership is facilitated through the Waze Connected Citizens Program, a free two-way data share that empowers its partners to harness real-time driver insights in order to help ease congestion and make better informed planning decisions.

“Waze provides each Connected Citizens Program partner with the same set of free, data-driven tools and resources to foster collaboration and communication between all partners,” said Adam Fried, New Business Development Manager at Waze. “Working with GEWI allows Waze to further scale the program and create additional opportunities for our partners to collaborate and help each other incorporate the power of crowdsourced data into their traffic management strategies.”

Founded in 1992, GEWI develops TIC software, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product used by public agencies, automobile clubs, commercial service providers, car and navigation manufacturers, toll road operators, and radio stations.

TIC is used for many types of market solutions including traffic and travel information services, work zones, road incident management, asset management, real-time information for navigation, and traffic news announcements, many of which can benefit from Waze data.

TIC is available from and supported 24/7 by GEWI offices in Europe, North America, and Asia, and by partners globally.
